Indian Navy Law / Logistics Exams
The Indian Navy is equipped with modern air carriers, destroyers, frigates, gunships, missile boats, submarines and naval aircraft. Behind the well equipped and modern fleet are the well trained and dedicated naval officers who are doing their best in safeguarding India's interests and playing a pivotal role in the country's defence.
Indian Navy recruits people to its executive branch and sailor branch. The Executive branch officers man the command appointments on board. The recruitment is advertised through the Employment News and all important National and Regional news papers/dailies.
Eligibility Criteria:
Age: Age Limit (as on July 1 of the year of admission):
- 21 to 25 years for category I
- 22 to 27 years for category II
- 19 to 25 year for category III.
Educational Qualification
For category -A:
Master's Degree with 55% marks in Physics (with Maths in B.Sc) or Maths (with Physics in B.Sc). Women candidates having Chemistry with Physics as subsidiary at Degree levels are also eligible.
For category B:
A Degree in Law qualifying for emolument as an Advocate under the Advocates Act
1961, with 55% marks and above.
For category C:
(i) I Class BE/ B.Tech in Civil/ Architecture or
(ii) Graduation in any subject including BCA with Degree/Diploma in Material/Financial Management or
(iii) Chartered Accountancy.
Physical Standards
Height and Weight:
Men: Minimum acceptable height 157 cms with correlated weight.
Women: Minimum acceptable height 152 cms, weight 38.6 kgs.
In both cases the Correlated weight should not, however, vary from the average by more than 10%
Visual Standards
6/60, 6/60 for I and 6/24, 6/36 for II & III correctable to 6/6 (in each eye with glasses).
Test Pattern:
Candidates after short listing will be required to appear for SSB Interview at Bangalore or Bhopal followed by Medical Examination. Candidates recommended by SSB are entered in course as Sub-Lieutenants and undergo Naval Orientation Course at Naval Academy (NAVAC), Goa followed by professional training at various Naval Training Establishments/ Units/Ships.
Selection for all Permanent Commission entries, except 10 + 2 (Tech) Cadet entry and NCC Special entry (Graduate) is through a written examination conducted by the UPSC, followed by an interview by the Service Selection Board (SSB). There is no written examination for the Short Service Commission entries. These applications are short listed as per the criteria laid down by the Naval Headquarters, Directorate of Manpower Planning & Recruitment. Selection is through merit alone and there’ is no room for any reservations. SSC officers may opt for Permanent Commission and if found fit, may be granted the same.

Completed typed applications as per prescribed format published in Newspapers generally in the month of September / October, accompanied by required documents, must be sent as and where directed.
