The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will start several new vocational courses and re-design the existing courses for the academic year 2011-12. The National Curriculum Committee of came up with several proposals for launch of new courses.

Accordingly, a new course on computer-based graphic designing is proposed for introduction for Classed XI and XII.
As part of physical and health education at plus two level, physiotherapy will be introduced as a vocational course. Physical education will also be introduce for primary classes.

If the students fail to be successful in academics, this education is expected to help the students to concentrate on improving their skills in various sports and games.
A new subject called ‘engineering drawing’ is will also be introduced as a new subject at plus two levels. Adolescent education programme will be introduced by adding some more concepts for Classes IX, X, XI and XII.

A course on mass communication, which is hitherto available only at post-graduation level, will be introduced at plus two level.
A course on tourism and hospitality by adding some new concepts will also be introduced at plus two level. The Central Board of Secondary Education is also entrusted with the task of preparing international curriculum for as many as 27 schools, which are affiliated to it, and located in Gulf countries.

A core curriculum is being developed for subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, and maths.
The Central Board of Secondary Education will also conduct subject proficiency test for the students in various subjects. Aptitude and interest test is also being planned for the benefit of the students.
Bhimavaram-based Bha-ratiya Vidya Bhavan’s international residential school Vidyasri’s principal, Mr G.S. Negi, who is one of the members of the CBSE’s National Curriculum Committee said, “The CBSE plans to launch new courses and fine-tune existing ones to have more relevance to the society and help those who pursue them find jobs.”
