AIPMT MBBS/BDS Examination Information Year 2010

All India Pre-Medical/Dental Test(AIPMT) is an annual entrance exam conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) for admission to 15% seats in Medical and Dental Colleges run by Union Government, State Governments, Municipal authorities in India(except for Jammu & Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh) for Medical and Dental Bachelor courses. AIPMT is therefore very important for all the students throughout India aspiring for medical/dental bachelor courses.

AIPMT is a very competitive exam as lakhs of candidates apply for a limited number of seats. AIPMT is conducted in two phases: Preliminary and Mains. A lot of preperation is required to clear even AIPMT preliminary exam. The candidates who clear the preliminary exams are shortlisted for the mains exam on the basis of which final selection are done.

Availability of Application forms for AIPMT 2010
Application forms for AIPMT 2010 are expected to be available by October end in the designated branches of Canara Bank and regional offices of CBSE. Candidates will also have the option to apply online on AIPMT website www.aipmt.nic.in where they have to fill the details in an online form and then take its print out which they have to send to AIPMT office. Candidates can choose to make the payment for online form either through credit card or by sending a demand draft along with the printed form.

Examination Dates:

  1. Date of Preliminary Examination: 11th April, 2010
  2. Date of Final Examination: 16th May, 2010
  3. Expected dates for availability of application forms: October 3rd week-November end, 2009
  4. Expected Last date for receipt of completed application forms: December 1st week, 2009

Eligibility criteria:
A candidate should be between 17-25 years of age as on December 31st, 2010. There is a relaxation of 5 years in upper age limit for SC/ST/OBC candidates. A candidate should have passed 12th or be appearing in 2010 with the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. Also a candidate should have atleast got 50% marks in PCB for general candidates and 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates. A candidate can only appear for AIPMT for a maximum of three times.

Pattern of Examination:
Uptil now preliminary examination in AIPMT was of objective type and final examination of subjective type but it has been notified that the pattern of AIPMT will change from 2010. Details regarding it will be available when official notification is released by AIPMT committee.
