More Time Sought To Read Question Paper
Members of school teachers and principals’ associations in the State have
requested the School Education Department to provide an additional 15 minutes
for students taking the Standard X and XII Board examinations to help them go
through the question paper carefully.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) introduced this system last year
for schools under its purview. Now, a section of principals representing other
streams have written to the Government, suggesting that the system be introduced
for exams conducted by the State Board.
For examinations held between 10.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m., the CBSE had said that
students needed to report at the examination hall at 10 a.m. At 10.15 a.m., the
question papers would be distributed and students could read it between 10.15
a.m. and 10.30 a.m. At 10.30 a.m., the bell would ring, signalling the start of
the examination.
“The idea is to allow students to calm down and plan,” says president of the
Principals Association of Matriculation and Higher Secondary Schools in Tamil
Nadu and Puducherry N. Vijayan.
