PROGRAMME GUIDELINES FOR SCHOOLS
AND EDUCATION OFFICIALS
SHERA MERA DOST GUIDELINES
INTRODUCTION
The Commonwealth in Education Programme for Delhi 2010 is an important exercise in engaging the youth and children. Through a series of fun contests and activities we take the spirit of the Games to children all across the country. The following guidelines are for schools to better understand the programme and see how they can execute and adapt the events to their set-up.
GUIDELINES
The entire programme and its details are available on a specially created micro-site which is being hosted on the Delhi Tourism website: www.delhitourism.gov.in Students and teachers can click on the Shera Mera Dost link on the home page in order to access the various activities under the programme. Shera Mera Dost is designed to involve children in activities that excite them about the Commonwealth Games. Our effort will be to include all children from government/ government-aided/ private recognized/ NGO-run schools and institutions imparting education. Children of all classes and age groups are eligible to participate.
Each Shera Mera Dost contest activity will classify students into three groups:
- Primary School: Classes I to V
- Middle School: Classes VI to VIII
- Senior School: Classes IX to XII
Contest Submissions: There are three ways in which students can submit their entries for Shera Mera Dost contests.
For All Students of schools affiliated to CBSE :
1. Online: Students can visit the Shera Mera Dost micro-site through
www.delhitourism.gov.in and submit their entries on the respective contest pages
(For all students).
For schools situated in NCR
2. By Post: Students may fill in a postcard clearly mentioning the contest name, student name, class, school name and school address and send it to:
P.O. Box: 3613, New Delhi – 110024.
- All postcards must be signed and approved by the school authorities.
3. Through Drop-box: Schools should create a special Shera Mera Dost drop-box where students can submit their entries to various contests. The students should clearly mention the contest name, student name, class, school name and school address. Schools will be responsible for sending the entries in the drop-box to:
CPO Building,
Behind Ritz Cinema (Kashmere Gate),
Delhi – 110006
Schools authorities should clear the drop-box weekly and ensure that the
contents reach the address above latest by 5 pm, every Monday till 15 October,
2010, when the programme closes.
There will be weekly/overall contest winners, depending on the activity. Weekly
winners will be announced every Friday.
EXCITING PRIZES IN STORE!
- Shera Mera Dost programme will award prizes and recognition to schools and students at various levels.
- At the District Level: To the Deputy Director of Education who generates maximum participation for the programme in their respective district.
- At the Zonal Level: To the Education Officer of the most active zone.
- At the School Level: To the Principal who generates maximum contribution and to the best-performing school official, other than the Principal, for exemplary work, in all Schools.
- And most importantly, STUDENTS!
Prizes
For School Authorities and Education Officials:
The prizes shall be in two phases.
1st Phase:- Entries Received before 1st October 2010.
Best Performing officials at the district/zonal/ school level will win tickets
worth Rs. 5000 for the Opening Ceremony of CWG 2010 in Delhi and mementoes as
well as certificates.
2nd Phase:- Entries Received between 1st September and 15 October
2010:
Best Performing officials at the district/zonal/ school level will win a special
“Shera Trophy” for their exemplary work.
Please note: All decisions will be taken by a specially constituted Jury for Shera Mera Dost. Participating officials must submit detailed reports on the activities undertaken in order to be eligible for the prizes and send it to:-

Behind Ritz Cinema (Kashmere Gate),
Delhi – 110006.
Special weight-age will be given for promoting non-competitive activities particularly Dress Up Your Home for CWG2010.
For Students:
Students who submit best entries to the Shera Mera Dost contest will win:
1. Tickets worth Rs.5000/- to the CWG2010 Opening Ceremony.
2. Certificates signed by the Chief Minister of Delhi.
3. Exciting Shera merchandize.
