CBSE reduces attempts at
AIEEE to three from ’09
The chances of appearing in the AIEEE (All-India Engineering Entrance Examination) have been reduced to three. At present, the students can appear for the examination for any number of times. The new decision will be applicable for the students appearing from the year 2009 onwards.
The decision was taken in a recent meeting of senior officials of the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education). The board is conducting the examination.
The AIEEE is a competitive exam that is taken by students after Class XII for securing a seat in engineering colleges. According to the sources, the decision has been taken to improve the quality of education. “The change is really significant as it will control incapable students getting into engineering colleges. It will help ensure quality of education,” said Prof SC Gupta, a physics lecturer.
The meeting held in Delhi was also attended by DPI (S) SK Setia. “The officials are also working on changing norms and rules of other exams. The New Year will witness many new changes in the academics,” Said Setia.
