CBSE PMT
(Pre Medical Test)
is a national level entrance exam conducted by CBSE for admission to 15%
of the total seats for MBBS and BDS courses in medical colleges run by Union of
India, state government, municipal and other local authorities in India except
the state of Jammu & Kashmir. The exam is also popularly known as All India
Pre Medical Test (AIPMT).
Eligibility:
Candidate must have passed 12th class or equivalent with
Physics, Chemistry, Biology (which shall include practical tests in these
subjects) and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English at a level
not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the NCERT.
Candidate must have secured an aggregate of 50% in Physics, Chemistry and
Biology taken together (40% in case of SC/ ST/ OBC). He/she must complete 17
years of age on or before December 31st of the year of admission.
Examination Pattern:
CBSE - PMT consists of two parts: Preliminary Examination and Final Examination.
The Preliminary Examination consists of one paper of 3 hours duration containing
200 objective type questions. Those who clear Preliminary Examination only are
eligible to appear in the Final Examination. The Final Examination consists of
two papers of 2 hours duration each. Paper-1 contains questions from Physics and
Chemistry and Paper-2 contains questions from Biology (Botany & Zoology).
Both the papers have subjective questions that are to be answered in the Test
Booklet supplied.
