SAINIK SCHOOL GHORAKHAL
It is a residential school providing public school education within the reach of the common man and aims to prepare its cadets for induction into the Armed Forces through NDA and to prepare them to hold responsible positions in other walks of life. The school is one among 26 Sainik schools, which is run by an autonomous body known as SAINIK SCHOOLS SOCIETY. The Society has a Board of Governors that functions under the Chairmanship of the Union Minister of Defence. The Chief Ministers and/or Education Ministers of the State, in which the schools are located, are among the member of the Board of Governors. The Board of Governors lays down the polices governing all the Sainik Schools. For more effective administration and financial control of the Sainik Schools the Board of Governors have formed an Executive Committee headed by the Defence Secretary.
Aim and Objectives :
The main aim of the school is to prepare the boys academically , physically and psychologically for entry into National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. The school gives emphasis on overall development of these boys to make them good citizens of tomorrow. As the very concept of establishing these schools is to bring public school education within the reach of the common man particularly from rural background, the fee structure of Sainik School has been kept at very low level as compared to other Public Schools.
Mission Of The School:
The school will achieve its target of sending at least forty students every year to the National Defence Academy / Naval Academy/ Technical Entry Scheme. The school aims to plant 1000 trees by 2018 and another 1000 by 2020. Our school football team aspires to lift ‘Subroto Cup’. All efforts of the school are towards the preparation of the same. The school intends to prepare its band team for participation in the Republic Day Parade in the near future.
The school intends to set up a fully automated /digital library with internet facility wherein , all students, staff would be able to access e-books, e-magazines, reference books or any other subject knowledge material from a centralized server.
The school intends to establish campus area network with fully automated departments/sections/classrooms/mess/office for ease of administration and operational requirements.
Administration:
The administration of this school is vested with an autonomous body called the ‘Board of Governors, Sainik School Society, under the Chairmanship of the Defence Minister. In addition, the general administration of the school is governed by a Local Board of Administration chaired by the General Officer Commanding, Uttar Bharat Area. The Principal is the administrative and academic head of the school. He is generally a serving officer on deputation from the Armed Forces. He is assisted by a Vice Principal and Administrative Officer who are also serving officers from the Armed Forces. The Vice Principal is responsible for Training and discipline of the cadets and the Administrative Officer looks after the logistics, office and general administration of the school.
School Emblem And Motto :
The school emblem is built around the motif of the Triveni Sangam i.e. confluence of Rivers Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati. The three segments created out of the Triveni Sangam motif represent the three services, with the top segment occupied by green, snow capped Himalayas in the background and the eagle of the Indian Air Force soaring upfront. The left segment representing the Indian Navy is coloured navy-blue and the anchor depicts our maritime forces. The right segment coloured scarlet symbolize the supreme sacrifice, and the crossed swords represent the Indian Army. At the base of the three segments lies an open book symbolizing education with the school motto ‘Buddhirasya Balantasya’ written across it. The school motto ‘Buddhirasya Balantasya’ constantly reminds and inspires its cadets that ‘Wisdom brings Strength’.
