(CBSE 2011) Modification in Class XII ‘Informatics Practices’ Curriculum in 2011 Board Exams

With the advancement of Information Technology and emerging open source software technologies, the syllabus for Informatics Practices in Senior Secondary classes for the board examinations to be held in 2011 onwards was revised and already incorporated in the curriculum 2011 document.
The highlights of the changes effected are as follows:
Class XI
- Unit I: Introduction to computer systems with hardware concepts and software concepts in place of computer system and Business Applications
- Unit 2: IDE based programming using Java in place of IDE based programming using Visual Basic
- Unit 3: Relational Database Management System with SQL using MySQL in place of SQL using Oracle
- Unit 4: A new Unit ‘IT Applications’ has been added in the curriculum to enhance understanding of the above tools
Class XII
- Unit 1 : Networking and open standards in place of Business Computing
- Unit 2 : IDE based programming using Java in place of IDE based programming using Visual Basic
- Unit 3 : Relational Database Management System with SQL
CBSE will be organizing teacher orientation programmes for the same in the months of August, September and October 2009. It may be noted that the new syllabus implemented for Class XI from the academic session 2009-10.
