c) Use/Write the formulae and appropriate expressions to illustrate, your answer and for reasoning wherever necessary.
( Q.1 – Q.5 carry 1 MARK)
1. What is the range of wavelength of visible light?
2. Name the mirror that can give an erect and enlarged image of an object.
3. List two points of differences between concave lens and convex lens?
4. State the principle of reversibility of light.
5. What is the focal length of a concave lens of power -2.0 D?
( Q.6 – Q.8 carry 2 MARK)
6. Light enters from air into diamond, which has a refractive index of 2.42. Calculate the speed of light in diamond. The speed of light in air is 3 x 108 m/s.
7. What is total internal reflection? State the conditions necessary for total internal reflection.
8. Draw ray diagrams to show the formation of image of an object by a concave lens when the object is placed
i) At infinity ii) between infinity and optical centre of the lens
( Q.9 – Q.11 carry 3 MARK)
9. Define the following regarding reflection of light from plane mirror
i) Reflecting surface ii) Normal
iii) Regular reflection
10. An object 5 cm in length is placed at the distance of 20 cm in front of a convex mirror of radius of curvature 30 cm. Find the position, nature, and size of image.
11. An object 3.0cm high is placed perpendicular to the principal axis of concave lens of focal length 7.5cm. The image is formed at a distance of 5.0 cm from the lens.
Calculate
(i) Distance at which object is placed.
(ii) Size and Nature of Image
