CBSE Handbook To Help
Students Overcome Exam Phobia

Here is one handbook, revised and published by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which would make things easier for the students appearing for the board exams.

The handbook titled as "Knowing Children better" has been prepared by Psychologists, social scientists and counselors of CBSE. The team has beautifully incorporated the feedback of anxiety calls received by them during previous years. The handbook deals with exam phobia and issues related to students and parents prior to exam.

This is for the five consecutive years the CBSE has been trying to help students overcome exam related stress. The handbook delves into psychological causes, behavioral reasons and environmental concerns that lead to stressful pre examination behavior among children.

The handbook also contains do's and don'ts that students could follow one month, one week, and one day before the D day. It offers tips for parents on their role in the studies of children during exam time.

Most of the students, particularly those appearing for the first time, feel the pressure of producing good results. Information like tips on learning, retaining, concentration, dietary habits and relaxation exercises have been incorporated in the handbook, said CBSE Counselor Mrs Getanjali Kumar, who is one of the composers of the manual.

This year's manual is something different, claimed the counselor adding that the manual has been made user-friendly for parents, teachers and students. To cope with the exam stress, CBSE also conducts a helpline with the help of trained counselors for parents and students to suggest tips on exams.
