Important Information Regarding 2013 Examinations

This year CBSE has introduced facilities to schools to generate online Roll no.wise List of Candidates appearing in Class X/XII examination 2013. School can also generate online Admit card for their regular student appearing in Board Examinations 2013.

Reduction in the number of chances for Compartment (Class XII) and Improvement of Performance (Class X) from 2013 examination

The number of chances for Compartment for Class XII has been reduced to three from five.

The number of attempts for Improvement of Performance for Class X has been reduced to onefrom five. The candidates shall appear for the Improvement of Performance attempt to be conducted by the Board in July/ School by July,

However, for candidates who have appeared for the 2012 examination or before and placed in the category COMPARTMENT/ELIGIBLE FOR IMPROVEMENT OF PERFORMANCE shall get upto five chances.

Highlights of Class XII

Introduction of project work in the subject of Business Studies of 10 marks to be evaluated by external examiner.

Improvement of Performance permitted to all class XII candidates aspiring for JEE-even of 2011 examination whether appeared in 2012 in relaxation of Rule 44.1 (i) of the Examination Bye-laws.Improvement of performance / Up gradation of performance permitted in all the subjects in which the candidate has appeared in the previous year.

Highlights of Class X

The Scheme of the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) for Class X 2013 examination:
Scheme 1–there shall be no Board Examination at Secondary (Class X) level for students studying in the schools affiliated to the Board who do not wish to move out of the CBSE system after Class X. Question papers and Marking Scheme will be supplied by the Board and evaluation will be done by the school.

Collection of Evidence of Assessments under Scheme 1

The marks awarded under Scheme 1are verified by the subject experts/moderators appointed and empanelled by the Board.This year, the board has also appointed certain City Coordinators in different cities to collect the Evidences of Assessment under Scheme 1. The verification exercise is conducted in the presence of board observers.

PROBLEM SOLVING ASSESSMENT was conducted on 16th February by the Board with the objectives of promoting problem solving skills, thinking skills and other life skills of the students. It is a compulsory test for all students of classes IX and XI studying in CBSE affiliated schools.
 
PSA is designed to assess

a) Quantitative Reasoning

b)Qualitative Reasoning and

c)Language Conventions

CBSE TELE COUNSELLING First phase

It is offered by trained Principals and counselors from within CBSE affiliated schools located in and outside India. It is a voluntary, free of cost service provided by the participants.

Centralized Toll Free Access in India

Students can dial a toll free number 180011004 from any part of the country which will give centralized access to CBSE helpline.

ON-LINE COUNSELING

Public can also log on to the CBSE website and Interact with Chairman on exam related issues. The Professor and Director (Academic, Research, Training and Innovation) and Controller of Examinations, CBSE can also be contacted for On-line counselling on sadhanap.cbse(at)nic.in  , mcsharma2007(at)rediffmail.com.

Preparations for smooth conduct of examinations

  • The sealed question paper packets will be opened in the presence of atleast four Asstt. Superintendents-one of them would be from the school other than the examination centre as a witness
  • The center material has been dispatched to all the examination centers.
  • Admit cards have been dispatched to all schools/centers.
  • Appointment of full time observers at sensitive centres in Delhi and outside has been completed.
  • The Board has also finalized the arrangement with the State machinery, local police to ensure trouble free examinations throughout the country.
  • Center Supdt.(s)have been asked to approach the local police authorities for ensuring that adequate police force is made available at the place of custody of the question papers and the examination centre. The State law enforcing agencies have also been requested to provide adequate police
    force at the place of custody of question papers and the examination centres.
  • Scanned photographs of Private candidates have been provided on admission cards to avoid impersonation or any other possible use of unfair means.
  • CBSE has a 3 tier arrangement for surprise checking:
    (i) CBSE flying squads
    (ii) Flying squads from Directorate of Education, Delhi
    (iii) Special observers from outside.
    Observers to oversee the conduct of practical examination for class XII have been appointed this year also.

Exemptions given to Spastic, Visually challenged, Physically Handicapped, Autistic, Dyslexic and candidates with disabilities as defined in the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995
