CBSE Class-12 Compartment Exam 2019 : Question Paper- Commercial Art

• Please write down the Serial Number of the question before attempting it.
• 15 minute time has been allotted to read this question paper. The question paper will be distributed at 10.15 a.m. From 10.15 a.m. to 10.30 a.m., the students will read the question paper only and will not write any answer on the answer-book during this period.

General Instructions :

(i) All the eight questions are compulsory, which carry equal marks.
(ii) Answers to be written for question nos. 1 and 2 in about 200 words each and for question nos. 3, 4 and 5 in about 100 words each. Question nos. 6, 7 and 8 are objective type.

1. Which one do you like or dislike most among all the paintings of the Bengal School included in your course of study ? Give your appropriate reasons in detail in the light of the capabilities of its painter in handling the medium and technique, depiction of the subject-matter and his way of composition.

2. Describe the origin and development of the Mughal or Deccani School of miniature-painting.

3. Which are the human life-values and emotions shown in any one of the following Rajasthani or Pahari miniature-paintings ? Explain in short :
(a) Bharat Meets Rama at Chitrakuta (Rajasthani School)
 OR
(b) Radha and Krishna Looking into the Mirror (Pahari School)

4. How far has its artist been successful in depicting the subject-matter of any one of the following contemporary (modern) Indian art-works ? Give your appropriate reasons in short on the basis of the aesthetic parameters :
(a) Three Girls          (a painting)
OR
(b) Of Walls               (a graphic-print)
OR
(c) Cries Un-heard     (a sculpture)

5. Identify any one relevant painting of the Bengal School included in your course of study, comprising of the following features and explain them in that painting accordingly : 
(a) The creation of mystic and mellow style, by using gloomy colours with diffused light background and absence of any dark line or tone, which provide the experience of the astral world. 
OR
(b) The delineation of attenuated human figures with extra elongated limbs and tapering fingers, which reflect the influence of the Rajasthani, Pahari and Mughal miniatures. Hence emphasis on the European realism is terminated.

6. (a) Mention the names of any three painters of the Mughal School included in your course of study, which are most important in your view.
OR
(c) Mention the names of any two sub-schools of the Deccani School included in your course of study, which are most important in your view.

7. Mention the titles of any five miniature-paintings of the Rajasthani or Pahari Schools included in your course of study.

8. Mention the title of the art-work done by each of the following contemporary (modern) Indian artists, which is included in your course of study :
(a) P.V. Jankiram                      (a sculptor)
(b) Aekka Yada Giri Rao          (a sculptor)
(c) Krishna Reddy                    (a graphic-artist)

(e) N.S. Bendre                       (a painter)
