Steps for Exam Preparation
Step 1 -
Read your subject Syllabus carefully and see
how much percent you have already covered and have notes for them? Let’s say,
you have already covered 70% of syllabus and 30% is remaining. Try to get notes
for this 30% remaining syllabus, best way is to request your friends, if they
already have notes for remaining 30% and get them photo copied as this is going
to save your time and you can focus on reading and grasping these notes.
Step 2 -
Have sample papers and previous year
question paper handy. This gives you good idea of questions examiner can ask in
exams and pattern of questions. You can check how marks are divided between
different types of questions. Most of the time examiner repeats few questions
from sample or previous year question papers or ask on same topic. This also
gives you idea of important topics that examiner can ask in question paper.
Step 3 -
When you are ready, close your study room,
have your pen and pencil ready and lock yourself for given time of exam. Try to
solve sample and previous year question papers within given time, treat them as
real exam. This practice run helps you to find your weak points and gives you
chance to improve them in advance.
Step 4 -
Don’t rely on impulse. If you see a question
or an answer that instantly looks correct, be careful. Don’t react to your
first impression. Read and think through each question and answer. Many times
test makers will set traps by putting in familiar sounding answers that are
incorrect. This will catch people off guard who are in a hurry and jump to
conclusions.
Evaluate your answer by asking yourself if the answer completely addresses the
question. Don’t let the examiner trick you into choosing the right answer to a
wrong question.
Step 5 -
Take practice tests: All students want to get a
high score in their exam and most of them prepare in that direction
but not all of them do well in good scoring. The CBSE exam is as much about the
substance as it is about style. Theoretical knowledge of the format, and
familiarity with topics and types of questions asked in the exam is necessary,
but not sufficient. What is really needed is actual practice with real CBSE like
tests. The more practice tests one takes, the more comfortable one becomes with
the pressure, stress, format, timing, one’s strength and weaknesses. This in
turn may help the said student align his/her energies in the right direction and
secure a high score in CBSE Exam.
