CBSE To Change Class X Practical Syllabus From 2009
In an effort to generate seriousness among students towards practical classes at school level, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made some changes in the class X practical syllabus.
In its recent announcement, the board declared that a 20-mark paper on practical skills for the Class X board exams, earlier based on experiments from the Class X practical syllabus, will now include the Class IX syllabus too.
While ten marks of the Multiple Choice questions (MCQ's) paper will test Class X practical syllabus, the remaining ten marks will be based on the Class IX practical experiments. The new practical syllabus will be effective from 2009 academic year.
Since last few years the CBSE has been emphasizing on practical examinations by writing to school principals. The recent circulars sent to the principals stated that, "The new scheme will enable students to understand the related theoretical concepts in the syllabus to a higher depth".
According to a CBSE Official - "Equal emphasis should be give on Class IX and Class X syllabus for practical exams. Each and every student should try to focus both on theoretical and practical learning for a bright future."
