(News) Parents can analyse CBSE students profile online

The CBSE's initiatives to put majority of the stakeholder interaction online got another boost last week when Human Resources Development (HRD) minister Smriti Irani launched the central board's 'Saransh' software. The board describes Saransh as a "tool for comprehensive self-review and analysis for CBSE affiliated schools and parents. It enables them to analyse students' performance in order to take remedial measures".

At the click of a button, parents and schools can view data related to Comprehensive and Continuous Evaluation (CCE) of state, region etc. Parents may also go down to student specific details while schools can view macro level statistics to see where their institute stands. The data will help stakeholders in self review by viewing student's performance in various subjects. This will help them to take decisions using data driven analysis empowering schools and parents.

Data visualization is another added aspect as all performance metrics are presented through numbers as well as in charts/ graphs for easy understanding. Saransh will also help schools to look performance in scholastic areas at an aggregate level and at the level of each student. There is also facility available for schools to upload data for real time generation of statistics.

YSK Seshu Kumar, chairman of CBSE, stated in the circular that Saransh enables stakeholders to "analyse students' performance in order to take remedial measures. Saransh brings schools, teachers and parents closer, so that they can monitor the progress of students and help them improve their performance". Kumar further wrote, "Saransh, as the name suggests, provides schools/parents a complete snapshot and comprehensive drill down analysis to take actionable decisions."

Saransh also provides parents and teachers to have one on one interaction regarding their child's performance and overall growth. Parents also get notifications from school/teacher on various activities and topics of interest.
