:: Eligibility ::

Eligibility Criteria:

i) Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC (list attached page No. 17 to 41) in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. (list of subjects of post graduation attached at page No. 42 to 43) are eligible for this Test. The Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to non-creamy layer / Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) / Persons with disability (PWD) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.

On behalf of UGC, the Central Board of Secondary Education announces holding of the National Eligibility Test (NET) on 28th Dec 2014 (SUNDAY) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor Both in Indian universities and colleges. CBSE will conduct NET in 79 subjects at 89 selected NET Coordinating Institutions spread across the country.

Eligibility Criteria:

i) Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC (list attached page No. 17 to 41) in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. (list of subjects of post graduation attached at page No. 42 to 43) are eligible for this Test. The Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to non-creamy layer / Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) / Persons with disability (PWD) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.

ii) Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of Junior Research Fellowship/eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master’s degree examination or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of OBC (Non-creamy layer)/ SC/ ST/ PWD (Persons with disability) category candidates). Such candidates must complete their P.G. degree examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

The National Eligibility Test has been earlier conducted by University Grants Commission (UGC). The entrance is conducted twice in a year . But from now NET which is conducted to test the basic eligibility for lectureship and JRF will be done so, by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) , on grounds of UGC not being able to conduct the exam hassle-free. The University Grants Commission, with the HRD ministry's consent, has asked the CBSE to conduct the test.

The inclusion of NET examination from December 2014 will make the CBSE the biggest exam conducting body, total number of candidates taking the exams conducted by CBSE has been increased to more than sixty five lakhs from around sixty three lakhs due to NET being added to this list.

In order to redesign homework to make it scientific, practical and research-based, the Central Board of Secondary Education has collected feedback from parents, teachers, principals and students across the country. The feedback was collected by posting a questionnaire on the board website. The responses were to be submitted online and the deadline passed last week.

To improve the quality of school education in the country, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to introduce School Quality Assessment and Accreditation (SQAA) soon.

According to a circular issued by the board , schools affiliated to it will be assessed through standardised instruments and processes of internal (self evaluation) and external assessment ( peer review), which would enhance the quality of education.

MHRD Announces Gurutsav 2014

The Ministry, therefore, announces an Essay Writing Competition, and invites entries from the students to share inspiring stories about their teachers. This Competition will be conducted on 1st September 2014. The entries are invited in English and all the 22 Scheduled Languages. (Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Bodo, Santhali, Maithali and Dogri). A practice round will be conducted on 29th & 30th August to acquaint participants with the process. The competition round will be held on the 1st September, 2014. Winners will be announced on the 3rd September 2014 and felicitated on 5th September 2014 at Delhi.

There will be three categories i.e. for Classes I-V, VI-VIII and IX-XII. The categories will represent girls, boys and differently abled girls and boys. In all, four winners will be chosen from each state/UT. Each of the best entries will get a chance to win a prize of Rs. 5,000.

Classes I-V & Visually impaired

For classes I-V and for visually impaired students, a 2 minute audio/video recording may be sent either by email or by uploading on mobile within an hour of announcement of the Essay topic.
