(News) Nearly 50% Student of CBSE Board Opt for State Syllabus

Nearly 50% Student of CBSE Board Opt for State Syllabus

Nearly 50% of the students, who cleared the CBSE class X exams this year, have applied for admission to state syllabus schools. Of the 70,020 students who appeared for the CBSE board exams in Thiruvananthapuram region, consisting of schools in Kerala and Lakshadweep, almost 35,081 students have applied for admission in state syllabus schools in class XI.

The main reason for this is that students score higher marks in state syllabus schools thereby increasing their chances of getting admission to professional colleges. Further, fees in government and aided schools are much lower than in private schools.

Celebrating the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31st October, 2014 as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day)

Celebrating the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31st October, 2014 as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day)

The Central Board of Secondary Education envisions an all-round development of students. On the occasion of Sardar Patel’s Birth Anniversary, mass activities across the country are planned involving students of all the
classes and all the boards on 31st October 2014. Activities will involve collaborative effort to convey the message of importance of unity in sustaining any work.

Why this mass activity?

This occasion provides us an opportunity to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country.

This event will convey the message of Unity, Safety and Security to all school students. In this event, students across the country would carry this message for further propagation. They will act as Unity, Safety, and Security
Ambassadors. The students will be able to appreciate the importance of the synergistic effort leading them to appreciate that in human activities the effect of joint effort is more than the sum total of the individual efforts.

About 350 Selected Centres will also be separately involved in spreading the message by inviting students from their neighbourhood schools.

Activities: The following activities are to be organised:

Morning Assembly:

1. Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge: Students of all schools may be requested to take Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge.(Bilingual Copy enclosed – Annexure A)

2. Run for Unity: Students after undertaking the pledge may take lap/s of the field or the sports ground to mark the Run for Unity. In this connection, the fitness of students must be kept in mind.

3. In addition to the above CBSE has also appointed 250 Centre Co-coordinators in schools across India. The list is uploaded on www.cbseacademic.in and on the Facebook page. In each centre 400 – 500 students
from the neighbourhood schools will be collecting together on the 31stOctober 2014 for other mass activities.

  • In every Centre the activities will focus on collectively making posters, jingles, paintings, collage; team debates, etc. on such topics which will involve joint planning and completion. Centre Coordinators may also organize indigenous team games.
  • Activities will also involve collaborative effort to convey the message of importance of unity in sustaining any work such as keeping public places clean.
  • Themes on Unity and Integrity will be based on unifying languages, rivers, customs, traditions and events such as festivals, National symbols, connection between individual effort and national growth etc.
  • The theme Safety and Security will be based on ideas such as contribution of various constituents (which will have the story of courage, valour and excellence), the importance of individual’s and group contributions in national safety, ensuring safe environment for all, online safety measures etc.
