CBSE Will provide ""Personalized Learning Solutions" via E-Learning

Over 11 million students are likely to benefit from the Central Board of Secondary Education's latest initiative "personalized learning solutions" to help bridge the digital gap and offer online learning resources to the tune of one lakh questions, over 4,500 animations (animated content), 80 hours of live lectures and six hours of simulation lab in digitized. The major beneficiaries will be around four million students from government schools affiliated to the Board as these resources will be made available free. Even for public school students these contents prepared by five international and national publishers will be available for as low as Rs 2 per month for classes I to VIII and Rs 10 per month for the secondary level. The initiative is to roll out from August 2013.

Frequently Asked Questions based on ‘Problem Solving Assessment’ (PSA)

Query.1 Will ‘Problem Solving Assessment’ be a part of FA4?

Reply : Yes, the `Problem Solving Assessment’ will be counted towards FA-4 which is 10% of total assessments of Class IX. This assessment will also be carried forward towards the FA-4 in Class X. This score will be reflected in one Language (English or Hindi), Mathematics, Science and Social Science w.e.f the session
2012-2013 for Class IX and 2013 – 14 for Class X. The same score will be reflected in FA-4 for class IX and Class X.

Query.2 Will the Question paper for PSA for classes IX and XI be sent by the Board?

Reply : Yes, the Question Paper containing OMR Answer Sheet will be provided by the Board.

Query.3 Can we conduct any other tests /assignments/projects etc. for FA4 in class IX?

Reply : Yes, you may conduct activities but such activities will not be counted towards FA4 in the subjects mentioned at upto Sl. No.1 above. Schools may club such tasks in FA3

Query.4 The student has to opt for one language for PSA (English/Hindi). Does this mean that the FA4 score of second language in class IX to be submitted by the school? Will there be one set of Question paper in PSA or questions in PSA will be asked for separate section of language?

Reply: 1. The PSA score will be reflected in the opted language. Regarding second language, the FA 4 score will be provided by the school.

6816 schools were selected for sending the evidences of assessments for Term-II, 2012-13, falling under the three categories:

  • (a) The schools which were not selected for sending evidences for Term 1.

  • (b) The selected schools which did not send their evidences to the designated nodal centres/ regional offices for Term-I.

  • (c) The schools which scored less than 20 during first term analysis work.

Query 1. Has the Board fixed any age  criteria to appear in class X  examination?

Reply: No, the Board has not fixed any age criteria to appear in class X examination however, at the time of admission the student should  satisfy the requirements of age limits (minimum and maximum) as  determined by the State/Union Territory Government, as applicable to  the place where the School is located.

Query 2. What is the procedure for seeking admission in class X?

Reply: As per rule 7.3 of the Examination Byelaws of the Board, admission to  class X in a school is open only to such a student who:

(a) has completed a regular course of study for class IX from an  institution affiliated to this Board;
(b) has completed a regular course of study for class IX and has  obtained minimum grade D in five subjects (excluding the 6th additional  subject) under Scholastic Area A, as well as grades in subjects under  Scholastic Area B under the Continuous and Comprehensive  Evaluation scheme in the class IX examination conducted by an  institution affiliated to the Board and migrating from/within one city/  state to another only on the transfer of the parent(s) or shifting of  their families from one place to another, after procuring from the  student the performance profile and the school leaving certificate, duly countersigned by the Board, and
(c) has completed a regular course of study for class IX and has passed  class IX examination from an institution recognized by/affiliated to any  recognized Board in India, can be admitted to a school affiliated to this  Board only on the transfer of the parent(s) or shifting of their  families from one place to another, after procuring from the student. the mark sheet and the school leaving certificate, duly countersigned by the Educational Authorities of the Board concerned. Notwithstanding anything contained in the rules above, the Chairman  has the powers to allow change of school for better academic  performance, medical reasons etc. or to avoid undue hardship to the candidate(s).
