(Notification) Change in History Paper: Class XII effective for the Board Examination: 2012

Design Of Question Paper History Class XII :

The following changes have been made in the design of the Question Paper in History for Class XII:
  • Marks for each question in the long answer section have been increased from 8 to 10 marks. The suggested word limit of answer to each long answer question has been enhanced to 500 words (earlier word limit 250 words)

  • The number of very short answer questions of 2 marks has been reduced from 5 to 3 questions. The following is the updated weightage of marks to form of
    questions:

National Talent Search Exam: 2012

NTS National Level Examination:
National Talent Search Scheme is a flagship activity of the NCERT started in the year 1963. The purpose of the scheme was to identify talented students and nurture their talent. Talent refers to the potentiality that manifests itself in a high level of performance in one or more specialized areas. The scheme, therefore, covers areas like Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law. It honours and helps talented students by providing financial assistance in the form of a monthly scholarship. For the courses in Basic Sciences, Social Sciences and Commerce, this assistance is provided up to Ph.D. level. For professional courses like Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law this assistance is given only up to Post Graduation. The NCERT conducts the National Talent Search Examination for students studying in Class VIII only.

Scholarships: On the basis of the examination conducted, 1000 scholarships will be awarded for each group of students appearing for Class VIII examinations. The amount of scholarship will be Rs.500/- per month as per NTS rules.

Reservation: 15% scholarships will be reserved for students belonging to the SC category, 7.5% scholarships for students belonging to the ST category and 3% for Physically Challenged Group of Students.

Selection: There will be two-stage selection process for award of scholarship. For Stage-I, selection will be done by States/UTs through a written examination. Students who qualify Stage I will be eligible to appear for Stage II examination conducted by NCERT. The States/UTs will also conduct the selection test for National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme along with the Stage-I written examination for NTS.

CBSE Heritage India Quiz, 2011

The preliminary stage of the CBSE Heritage India Quiz, 2011 will be conducted on Saturday, 3rd September, 2011 in different centers across the country and also in a few centres abroad. The first stage of the quiz will be a multiple choice type written quiz wherein the correct answer is to be marked on the OMR answer sheet by darkening the appropriate circle.

(News) NCERT 24x7 School Education Channel

A 24x7 dedicated education TV channel will be rolled out soon. The human resources development ministry plans to launch an exclusive channel (on Gyan Darshan) which will beam programmes on formal education and adult literacy.

National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) have submitted a proposal for launching 24X7 television channel to cater to the needs of school education and adult literary.

The details are as under:

(i) Upgradation of equipment
(ii) Establishing production facilities (studio and communication link with the earth station)
(iii) Augmenting manpower requirement
(iv) Development of e-content
(v) Mapping of programme available with other agencies (Private, NGO and other government agencies)

The Central Institute of Educational Technology, National Council of Educational Research and Training, New Delhi and the National Institute of Open Schooling, NOIDA, Uttar Pradesh will be the lead partners. The Department of Adult Education and its sister agencies in the States, State Institutes of Educational Technology, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatan, Novodaya Vidyalaya Samiti and other educational agencies in the Centre and the States will be invited to participate and contribute.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Human Resource Development Dr. D. Purandeswari, in a written reply to a question, in the Lok Sabha today.

CBSE Heritage India Quiz 2011

The CBSE Heritage India Quiz is one of the enrichment activities initiated by the Board with the objective of inculcating among the students interest and appreciation for the rich heritage and diversity of our country.  Started in the year 2001, it has been generating tremendous enthusiasm among the student community.  It is needless to say that it has been the unstinted support and cooperation from schools that had enabled this success.  The trend needs to be continued and the schools are expected to participate with greater vigour in the Heritage India Quiz to be conducted in the ensuing Academic Session 2011-12.

The Board is going to conduct the 1st round of CBSE Heritage India Quiz in August 2011 in various cities of India and abroad.  Team will be identified on the basis of their performance in the first round of written preliminary quiz 2011.  Each school will be represented by three students forming a team who may be selected from classes IX to XII.

The written preliminary round will consist of multiple choice type questions in which the correct answer has to be marked on the OMR answer sheet.  The total of the scores obtained by the three participants will be the marks scored by the team.  The meritorious teams will participate in the Zonal Rounds which are proposed to be conducted in September 2011.  This will be followed by the National Rounds featuring the Pre Finals amongst the teams qualifying in the Zonal Rounds and the National Finals for the best teams emerging out of the pre Finals.  There are attractive prizes and trophies besides certificates instituted for the winners.

Rashtriya Indian Military College has issued Notification for the Entrance Examination for admission to VIII Class in the R.I.M.C. Dehradun for the Term July, 2012. The Examination will be held on 01/12/2011 and 02/12/2011 at Hyderabad. Only Boys are eligible to apply to the RIMC. At the time of admission to RIMC (i.e. on 01/07/2012) the boy should either be studying in Class VII or passed Class VII from any recognised School. They should not be less than 111/2 years in age but should not have attained the age of 13 years as on 01/07/2012 i.e., they should not be born earlier than 02/07/1999 and not later than 01/01/2001.
