using a lens of appropriate focal length.

1. Lisez bien le texte et répondez aux questions qui suivent :

L’éclair le plus long du monde

L’éclair est une décharge d’électricité dans le ciel. Lorsqu’il y a un orage, le ciel et les nuages se chargent en électricité. Lorsque les charges positives et négatives se rencontrent, cela forme d’importantes décharges électriques visibles depuis le sol. Ils
durent en moyenne moins d’une seconde.

Celui qui a traversé le ciel du Sud-Est de la France le 30 août 2012 était près de 8 fois plus long. Il a duré 7,74 secondes. Il est né près de Pierrelatte (Drôme) et s’est terminé audessus de Brignoles (Var), 160 kilomètres plus loin. Il s’agissait d’un éclair
horizontal, c’est-à-dire allant d’un nuage à un autre. Il n’a pas touché le sol. Ce qui explique pourquoi il a duré aussi longtemps.

Le 16 septembre dernier, 1’Organisation météorologique mondiale (OMM) a annoncé officiellement qu’il s’agissait de l’éclair qui a duré le plus longtemps au monde.

L’étude des éclairs permet de mieux les connaître et ainsi de mieux se protéger lorsqu’ils touchent le sol. Chaque année, *la foudre fait entre 10 et 20 morts en France. *la foudre : lightning
