Adolescence, a vital stage of growth and development, marks the period of transition from childhood to adulthood. It is characterized by rapid physiological changes and psychosocial maturation. Adolescence is also the stage when young people extend their relationships beyond parents and family and are intensely influenced by their peers and the outside world in general. As adolescents mature cognitively, their mental process becomes more analytical. They are now capable of abstract thinking, better articulation and of developing an independent ideology. These are truly the years of creativity, idealism, buoyancy and a spirit of adventure. But these are also the years of experimentation and risk-taking, of giving in to negative peer pressure, of taking uninformed decisions on crucial issues, especially relating to their bodies and their sexuality. Adolescence is thus a turning point in one’s life, a period of increased potential but also one of greater vulnerability.

Dear students do not fall for CBSE paper leak scams!!

Dear students do not fall for paper leak scams!!

Come CBSE exams and along comes a list of do's and don'ts to make a mark in your career's decisive years. With the Board exams just around the corner, students are trying their best to cope up with the 'exam-phobia'!!

While some are extremely confident about their preparations, others suffer thanks to the accompanying stress. The reason why exams produce so much stress in students is fear. It is the fear of failing or getting low marks.

And this constantly builds up stress which beyond some point, becomes too much to deal with. Let's look at some common reactions of the Board exam aspirants.

Aanchal, a 16-year-old who is although a very good student has stopped studying, she simply can not. She is unable to concentrate, vomits these days, has become prone to crying and has already lost 5 kgs. Her mother has developed severe hysteria about the examinations, too.

Charu, a 16-year-old has always been a rank holder, and is seeing herself as a motivated, intelligent student after having already revised the complete course once. Not only academics, she had also been actively participating in extra-curricular works such as debating, dramatics and creative writing. She is all confident about topping her class at least. In other words, she does not see stress as distress.
